Hanoi flood situation update (11 Sep 2024)


At 11:30 p.m. on September 10, the water level of the Red River in Hanoi (Long Bien) reached level II at 10.50 m (alarm level II is 10.50 m) of alert level II on the Red River in the districts of Bac Tu Liem, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Long Bien and the districts of Thanh Tri, Dong Anh, Gia Lam.

Therefore, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City in the districts of Bac Tu Liem, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Long Bien and the districts of Thanh Tri, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, units in the above areas and the sectors and officers assigned to strictly implement the regulations when there is an alert level II.

This is the latest flood development that the meteorological agency has warned about when the Red River floods rise, it can cause flooding along the riverbanks and low-lying areas, threatening the lives and property of people in flooded areas.

Alert level I on the Red River in Long Bien (Hanoi) is 9.5; alert level II is 10.5 m; alert level three is 11.5 m. Hanoi City said that since 2008, the Red River has only risen to this level, so people may be subjective, lack response skills, and the government may be passive.

Previously, at noon on September 10, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City issued a level I flood alert on the Red River in the districts of Bac Tu Liem, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Long Bien and the districts of Thanh Tri, Dong Anh, Gia Lam.

This flood warning was issued based on the water level of the Red River at Long Bien at 11:10 on September 10 being 9.5 m (alarm level I is 9.5 m).
