Travel Trends in 2025

On the very first working day of 2025 (January 2), the digital travel platform Agoda swiftly unveiled the latest travel trends through its Travel Trends 2025 Survey. The survey results indicate that in 2025, Asian travelers are placing greater emphasis on leisure trips, family experiences, and exploring new and unique destinations. These emerging trends are driving the growth of the regional tourism industry.

Agoda’s survey highlights that Vietnamese travelers are increasingly prioritizing family time and seeking relaxation amid their busy lives. The findings also emphasize a growing interest in discovering new destinations.

Agoda’s Chief Product Officer, Ittai Chorev, shared: “The travel trends for 2025 are fascinating. We are seeing a rise in family getaways and journeys to explore new destinations.”

Notably, amusement parks have emerged as a popular choice, with one in eight respondents planning to visit a theme park during their trip, Ittai Chorev added.

The Travel Trends 2025 Survey by Agoda unveils six key travel trends:

1/ The More, The Merrier: Family Travel Takes the Lead

For many travelers, each trip with family is an opportunity to strengthen bonds of love. According to the survey, 39% of Vietnamese travelers plan to travel with their loved ones in 2025. Additionally, solo travel (20%) and couple travel (17%) are also popular trends. However, the percentage of family travel among Vietnamese travelers is still lower than in Indonesia, the regional leader, where 58% are eager to participate in multi-generational trips in the coming year.

2/ Leisure Travel is the Top Motivation

The need to escape the fast-paced lifestyle is the primary motivation driving Vietnamese travelers to pack their bags. According to the survey, leisure travel is the top priority (65%), followed by cultural exploration (49%) and visiting family and friends (39%). Notably, Singapore leads the region, with 87% of respondents stating that relaxation is the main reason for their travels.

3/ Technology Accompanies Every Journey

Technology is playing an increasingly important role in travel planning. According to the survey, 78% of Vietnamese travelers stated that they would use travel apps to organize their trips. In the region, travelers from India (89%) and the Philippines (82%) are considered the most tech-savvy, using travel apps to plan their journeys.

4/ Blending Work with Exploration Experiences

In addition to traditional business trips, which make up 48% of survey responses, the data also shows that the trend of combining travel with remote work is becoming increasingly popular among Vietnamese travelers. As more companies adopt flexible work policies, the survey reveals that 1 in 25 people plans to combine travel with remote work in 2025. Notably, the Philippines has the highest regional rate, with 1 in 14 people choosing to combine remote work and travel.

5/ Inspiration: Exploring New Destinations in Unique Ways

Travel inspiration can stem from various factors, including personal interests and passions (84%), available budget (55%), and recommendations from friends and family (35%). Notably, social media is increasingly showing a strong influence on travel decisions. 17% of Vietnamese travelers reported that they get travel ideas from social media platforms. In Malaysia and Indonesia, this figure rises to 29%, with Instagram and other online platforms playing a significant role.
